Paw Services
Pawsitively Pooched opened its doors in August 2005. The inspiration: Heidi. Heidi had undergone ACL surgery on her right knee and after six weeks of turmoil, Carrie’s idea for an assisted swimming facility was born.
Pawsitively Pooched was instrumental in helping Heidi heal, and Pawsitively Pooched wants to provide dog owners with a fantastic facility whether it be for recreational or therapeutic reasons.
We welcome you and look forward
to the journey with you and your dog. We want to provide the best care possible for your four-legged friend! Bring a camera! See you soon!!!

We offer a structured daycare at Pawsitively Pooched. That means that the dogs have set times to play, go outside for walks and rest times. In an eight-hour day all dogs receive about five hours of play. They have a great time and they are extremely exhausted after. The reason why the dogs have rest time in kennels is to prevent dog fights. When dogs become over-stimulated or tired, dog fights can break out. We have toys in the daycare for the dogs to play with. We find it is a nice treat for them. They also learn quite a bit from us naturally and we also try to help reinforce what owners do at home. The commands that we frequently use are off, sit, down, wait, leave it, kennel and daycare. If there is anything you want us to help work on, let us know! If you have any questions please ask, we love being able to help clients with behavior issues or training concerns. If we don’t know the answer we will lead you in the right direction.
If you would like your dog to eat breakfast, lunch or dinner we will feed them. Too many dogs have allergies or GI issues so we just ask that you bring their own food.
Assisted swimming is for therapeutic and recreational purposes. It is for those dogs that have
hip dysplasia, arthritis, had knee surgery, back surgery, old age, or just to stay healthy. Assisted swimming is also a great way to introduce a puppy to the water. A therapist goes into the water with your dog and incorporates massage and other healing techniques to help make the dog more comfortable and help to relax muscles. Initially the therapist will sit on the stairs with your dog and after approximately 10 minutes, depending on your dogs comfort level, the therapist will bring your dog to the middle of the water where they will be taught or encouraged to swim.
We offer three half-hour packages and six half-hour packages. While your dog is here for daycare they can go swimming for a half-hour at a reduced rate. If you are interested in learning more about the pool and assisted swimming, please ask.
Benefits of Assisted Swimming:

Grooming your dog makes him/her look and feel good. It’s an excellent time to note any skin problems and consult your veterinarian. Plus, you’ll prevent your pet from spreading
excess hair, dust, dirt and parasites inside your home. How often your dog needs to be groomed depends on his/her coat and lifestyle.
Nail trimming is another part of regular grooming. Regular nail trims can save your hardwood floor and save your dog from painful feet and toes. This is done for free while your dog is being groomed.
